Nominee's Bio: Blaise Ackom is a Nurse at the Madina polyclinic - Kekele for the past years. A cervical cancer Advocate, Health influencer , a medical media personality and the Secretary of Cancer Support Network Foundation. My dedication to advancing healthcare through health education and screening especially free breast and cervical cancer screening has positively impacted countless women. My expertise and commitment has made me a valuable asset to Ghana and the broader medical community. My humble beginnings fueled my determination to create a positive change in my country. From an early age, I have displayed compassion and empathy towards others, often lending a helping hand to my friends and family in times of need. As I matured , my passion for making a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate especially women only intensified. Through my service, I have been able to reach out to thousands of young girls and women in Ghana especially in societies which are hard -to- reach in almost all the regions which includes the media, churches, Schools and community groups to educate them on Cervical and breast cancer and also screen these women for free. Through innovative campaigns and strategic partnerships with other organizations, I have been able to offer some financial support to women who have been affected with breast and cervical cancer to undergo treatment for free and this has gone a long way to save most women from loosing their lives. Since 2018 till date we have been able to support about 100 women to undergo treatment for free. Through partnerships, I have been able to lead a team of medical professionals to the central Region precisely Ajumako to embark on a 5 day breast screening for women living within the district and beyond for free. We were able to screen about 700 women out of which 79 women were suspected cases of breast cancer. Further investigations were done for these women and put on treatment for free. They are all doing well till now. I have also been featured on the US Global TV and UK online radio to discuss issues of Cervical and breast cancer For the first time in Ghana, I have been able to mobilize resources to screen women living with HIV/AIDS on Cervical Cancer at the Madina polyclinic kekele for free since they are at a higher risk of developing Cervical Cancer due to their compromise immune system. About 150 women were screened out which 5 proved to be positive. Further investigations were done for these 5 women and put on treatment. They are doing well till now. Through my initiative , I have also been able to train about 10 Nurses and Midwives on how to screen for cervical and breast cancer for free since there are only a few of them across the country who can do those screenings and this will go a long way to help diagnose some of these cases at the early stage. I have been able to laise with the management of my hospital to establish a cervical and breast cancer screening department in the facility to help serve the community members since there are only a few centers within the catchment area. This was the first of it's kind since the hospital was established about 50 years ago. Through partnerships, I have been able to supply about thousands of free sanitary pads to school girls in deprived areas across the country. My outstanding services to the nation has attracted me some awards which includes; best SDG 10 advocate of the year at the humanitarian global awards 2022, Health personality of the year at the Top Global CEO awards, Youth Philanthropist of the year at the Ghana youth Awards, Health Patron of the year at the Africa Young Achievers Awards, Youth Nurse of the year at the Ghana youth excellence Awards, best youth in health sciences of the year at the National premier Awards, Sustainability Initiative of the year at the mentorship and volunteerism Awards and Youth Icon of the year at the prime Time Ghana Awards.
